Nigerian rapper Illbliss (real name Tobechukwu Ejiofor) sparked discussion recently with his comments on the ongoing debate regarding veteran artists’ contributions to the Nigerian music industry.

In an interview on Channels TV, Illbliss addressed the claims of some contemporary artists who assert they didn’t benefit from the work of earlier generations.

Illbliss acknowledged everyone’s right to their opinion, but emphasized that inspiration plays a crucial role in any artist’s journey. While acknowledging the lack of formal record deals in the past, he pointed out that younger artists were undeniably inspired by their predecessors.

He then challenged these established artists, often referred to as “OGs” (Original Gangsters), to continue creating music, expressing his concern about the growing issue of ageism in the Nigerian music industry.

He concluded by stating his disapproval of the “energy” being projected by some “OGs,” and his admiration for the hard work and dedication of younger artists.
